Roxana Giles, more often known as Roxie, started painting in 1979 after an illness, and she will tell you she used painting as therapy.
Roxy has done pretty much everything as far as art related hobbies are concerned, after attending Art College to study dress design. Between oil painting, dress making and even upholstery – well she can turn her hand to anything.
Roxie’s horror of a china painting teacher gave up after Roxie had been learning for a couple of years. Roxie was taught using only turps and powder pigment and 2 brushes! How things have changed!
Roxie was offered a job teaching in a local shop, and she watched everything and everyone she came into contact with and is therefore mainly self-taught. Hard to believe when you see the stunning work, and quirky design techniques she had on display at Centigrade˚.
Today, Roxie continues with her weekly classes and her favourite topic to paint is still Highland Cattle using the Royal Worcester style techniques.
