I was born in Penacova, Portugal and went to Luanda in Angola, when I was 7 months old. There were four children in the family, and I was the youngest. We were very lucky to have a happy childhood.
The family returned to Portugal when I was 7 years old. The world was at war and it took a long time to get to Lisbon.
When I was 30 years of age I decided to go to London to study for a couple of years. I ended up staying there for fourteen years working for the Portuguese Airlines - TAP.
While I was in London, I visited many countries either on holiday or to work. Spain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Isle of Cyprus, Greece, Angola, Mozambique, Argentina, Brazil and USA being just a few of them.
I returned to Portugal in 1980 and got married and had a beautiful child.
I started painting a few years later, and I retired very early to be able to continue my painting and also to travel.
I visited Brazil periodically where I had painting classes and met some of the best artists in porcelain painting, such as Djalma Vicenz, Luiz Wacao, Carlos Spina, Isa Barcelos, Rute Gomes, Mario Watanabe, Lourdes Abraços and many others.
In 1990 I had a scholarship granted by Calloust Gulbienkian Foundantion to take a degree on Porcelain Restoration in a London University. It was a very good experience during which I learned many skills.
Besides Brazil I travelled to many other countries to attend shows and to teach the techniques I had developed. Some of the countries I visited were USA, Canada, Argentina, México, Venezuela, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium and England. On my trips I met many other great painters like Rocio Borobia, San Do, Paula Collins and many others.
My main hobbies are travelling, painting, poetry, music and reading and I was glad to be able to attend Centigrade˚ - Medieval Knights 2009.
